Welcome to Pyramid Youth & Adult Fitness Training Center.  We are your local leader in youth and adult fitness training. If you have ever trained in a conventional health club or gym, you know how distracting it can be. Even in a home gym, interruptions are unavoidable. Private Personal Training is one-on-one instruction that begins with a fitness assessment and sets personal goals to create challenging workouts specifically designed for each individuals needs.

At Pyramid, we know that a private environment is essential for effective communication between you and your fitness trainer. Our realistic, goal oriented programs will help you reach your desired level of fitness. As your physique, stamina and fitness level improves, we re-measure your body and adjust your program accordingly.

Chris Purdue has taught Health and Physical Education in the Livingston School system for the past seven years. Chris holds a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology and he is also certified as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist with The National Council Of Strength & Fitness. He has trained hundreds of children and adults ranging in ages 6-60. In addition, he is the summer Sports Director at Camp Horizons in Livingston. Chris maintains a healthy and active lifestyle by living and modeling what he teaches. His overall philosophy is that once an individual is able to learn to move with the correct mechanics they will be successful in all fitness and athletic-related endeavors. 



Frank Cozzolino: As an educator and trainer, Mr. Cozzolino understands the importance of modeling a healthy lifestyle for his students and clients.  His emphasis is on inspiring, educating and motivating children to begin taking control of their health at an early age.  He also believes the spirit of teamwork, positive group support and cohesion will build individual self-confidence and self-esteem. Frank is a certified Personal Trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) since 2001.  He is also qualified as a Speed, Agility and Quickness Trainer through the National Endurance Sports Trainers Association (NESTA).  Mr. Cozzolino is a respected Physical Education and Health Teacher at Redwood Elementary School in West Orange for over six years.


Andre Callender graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 2003. He earned SuperPrep All-America honors as a senior running back at Seton Hall Prep and named to Tom Lemming's All-East team in 2002. He was a two-time All-State and three-time All-County selection, gained All-Iron Hills Conference accolades in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and earned a spot on the New Jersey Coaches Association's Super 100. He was selected to the 2002 Tri-State Heisman Team and holds the Seton Hall Prep record for career rushing yards with 4,370; ran for a single-season record 1,772 yards as a junior and rushed for 1,450 yards as a senior. He scored six touchdowns in one game - against Livingston - in 2001. Andre also earned All-State honors in track; was one of the nation's top high school hurdlers (110m high hurdles). He went on to have an outstanding football career as a running back at Boston College. He Earned All-ACC second-team honors and set a BC single-season receptions record with 76 grabs (for 720 yards) and had a team-high 13 touchdowns on the year (9 rushing, 4 receiving). Upon graduation, he finished fifth on the BC all-time rushing list with 2,971 yards.Needless to say, Andre is our football and track specialist. He received his Personal Trainer Certification from the International Fitness Association. At the NFL Combine on Tue, 25 Mar 2008, He ran 10 yards in 1.59 seconds, 20 yards in 2.58 seconds and the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds. He ran the short shuttle in 4.34 seconds, the long shuttle in 11.58 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.86 seconds. He measured a 30 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-3 broad jump and completed 16 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press. Due to injuries, Andre’s career was cut short. He played 1 year as Free Agent in Canadian Football League. 


Joyce VanSeters is long time fitness professional who prides herself in helping others.  She holds specialty certifications in Kickboxing, Military Bootcamp training, Yoga, Pilates, and Pre/Post Natal exercise and Rehab.  AFFA (Certified Group Instructor) NASM (Certified Personal Trainer) PHI Pilates (Certified Pilates Reformer Instructor I,II,&III ) CPR and AED Certified. She teaches private group trainings as well as one-on-one. Joyce continues to be very excited about the future of her success and prides herself being better everyday.

Mike Weis PT, ATC, received his Physical Therapy degree in 1992 from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with an undergraduate degree in Movement Science. He also received his Athletic Training certification from William Paterson University in 1989. For over 20 years Mike has trained and rehabilitated hundreds of amateur, collegiate and professional athletes.  Mike is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the National Athletic Trainers Association and Eastern Athletic Trainers Association. Mike has run in the New York City Marathon in 2006, 2007, and 2008 and again in 2009. In conjunction with the NYC Marathon he has raised over $ 15,000.00 in support of pediatric cancer research through The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center. In addition, Mike devotes much of his time to the recreational youth activities including Little League, travel soccer and Jr. football.


John M. Wolkstein DC, ACSM, NESTA, NCSF, is The co-founder and Director of Pyramid Youth/Adult Fitness and Wellness Center.  Dr Wolkstein is also the director of Post Rehabilitation for MCRC Physical Therapy.  Dr. Wolkstein graduated from Livingston High School in 1978, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monmouth University in 1982 and a Doctorate from Life Chiropractic College in 1996. He was a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and presently holds certifications from (NESTA) National Endurance and Strength Trainers Association, (NCSF) National Council of Strength and Fitness and is certified in Speed & Agility Training. For over 20 years, Dr. Wolkstein has treated, trained and coached hundreds of athletes. Dr Wolkstein has performed Dynamic Functional Mobility Programs for Coach Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse University Basketball Camp, East Orange Campus High School Football Program, The Livingston Recreation Department, The Livingston Soccer Club, SMC Soccer, Solomon Schechter Boys and Girls Soccer Teams and Girls Volleyball and The Livingston Jr. Lancer Football Program.  In 2004-2005 Dr Wolkstein was the team chiropractor for the NY MetroStars Professional Soccer Team. He has lectured extensively on Youth Fitness, The Biomechanics of Youth Dynamic Functional Mobility Training, Sports Performance Enhancing Drugs, Childhood Obesity and Hydration. He is a former board member of the Livingston Soccer Club. He is currently a member of Livingston's Zoning Board, Vice president of the LHS Big ‘L” Club and President of the LHS Livingston Football Parents Association. In his free time, he enjoys his family and 3 children.


Chris Volo: graduated from Livingston High School in 2002. He excelled in Wrestling and Football. Chris wrestled for legendary Livingston Coach Bob Keenan. 2x high school District Champion, 2x High School County Champion, 2x high school Region Champion, 1x Free Style State Champion. Chris became a Licensed Personal Trainer in 2006 certified by The
International Fitness Association and he has trained hundreds of Kids and adults including D 1 athletes at Pyramid Fitness.
At Pyramid & The Chris Volo School of Wrestling you will learn how to train, drill, and condition in an intensive
atmosphere. We strive to improve techniques of beginners to experienced wrestlers. Professional Training in all phases
of interscholastic wresting in a State of the Art Wrestling Room with 9 separate circles. Private instruction or
Groups/Team Training sessions are available. A separate functional strength training facility is also available.
In 2005 Chris became a Professional MMA fighter for AMA/Renzo Gracie. He set the record for the fastest MMA knockout in
Illinois State history when he landed a big right hand just 9 seconds into round one which ended the fight between
him and Pro fighter Martin Renteria Jr, In front of a sold out Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, Illinois.
Chris continues to fight on the MMA Professional Circuit.
